Heaven scented roses bloom
in our front garden
Pink, lemon and red spike
bushes all are fully laden
So delicately put together
A rambling trail of beauty
Each one an artistic achievement
A bunch of them such booty
Bud and full blown roses
Clustered together in my vase
Grace my dressing table
Reminding me that not far
Not far away is my garden
Not far away is home
Not far away is my family
That can’t wait for me to return
Home from the hospital
To peace and love and hope
On the road to recovery
Well and able to cope
With all the rambling roses
That grace our little yard
To tidy up after the season
And build a new facade
So every year they’ll show their faces
We’ll smell there sweet perfume
That they may offer their beauty
To others in a hospital room
